Improving Your Leadership Skills: Creating Your Own Leader Development Plan

Leadership development is the current in-thing within business circles. This is understandable because great leadership has often been the cause of great business success, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs being two illustrative examples of what good leadership can do for companies. There’s a plethora of training programs out there that emphasize leadership development and it may get confusing for anyone. It can also get quite expensive if you’re not sure about what sort of program you’re looking for. If you’re part of a company the price is not a problem, but if you’re not or are already at the top and have tight finances, it can be a pain to improve yourself.

Not to worry, leadership development can also be done on your own. Most programs give bang for their buck by providing additional services but, at its core, a leadership development program is all about self-improvement. All you need for self-improvement is a willingness to change and a guide to get you started and what you need when you’re developing your leadership skills is a plan. So, here’s a few tips on starting your own leadership development plan:

a) Make Goals – Whenever you’re starting something, it’s always good to know what you’re aiming for. A plan is like a map and if you don’t know your destination, then you’ll probably end up getting lost on the way. The question is is what should your goals be? Try to choose a goal for your professional life – how you want to end up and where do you want to be in a given amount of time. Try to set a goal for yourself that is both attainable and reasonable. Nothing discourages more than failing a plan.

b) Have A Reason – You probably have a reason for doing all of this. Remember that goals are not reasons; reasons are what drive you towards a goal and not the goal itself. It can be difficult to differentiate the two but it is important to know exactly why you want something; is it personal pride or something more. Stupid reasons give you stupid goals; reevaluate what goals you have after you’ve determined what’s driving you towards them.

c)Assess Yourself And Identify What You Need To Change – Take a long hard look at yourself. What are your personality traits? What skills do you have? What personal weaknesses do you have? It is very important that you be honest with yourself in this part – which is why most leadership development programs have counselors to assist you at this stage; they’re nor exactly necessary but they help cut through all the excuses and justifications that you make for yourself. Look at your goals and look at yourself – what traits and skills can help you reach those goals? What weaknesses will hinder you? What do you need to do change yourself to be able to reach your goals?

d) Put The Plan In Action – Get off your ass and do what needs to get done.

This may all seem simple but trust me, it is probably going to be the most difficult thing you’ve ever done. Leadership development is not a cakewalk but if you manage to do it, you’ll be rewarded well in the end.

Personal Transformation and Self Esteem

We all must develop various aspects of our person in order to live healthy and survive the many challenges that one faces in this world. Self-esteem is essentially something that we all must work on in order to live a happier life. When an entity feels bad, about whom he or she is it often leads to depression. Stress tends to escalate, which the person’s life becomes overwhelming and that entity will find it difficult to manage his or her life. We must maneuver through the process of self-development, which involves building emotions, physical, spiritual, and mental health. This leads us to the self-healing process, which means that we must search the inner mind to discover the self that holds the answers that will help us solve our many problems. In order to accomplish one’s goal he or she must work through and abandon negative thinking, behaviors and habits. The negative will build up stress, which commonly leads to panic, phobias, depression and finally heart attacks and so on. Stress when it takes over one’s life will create sleeping problems, such as insomnia. The entire negative affects one’s health in one way or another. This means we must search for answers that guide us to making personal transformation that helps us to cope with stress while managing our life effectively. By learning the way to minimize the stressors, such as bills one can live healthy and happy. By developing a positive mind, one can build self-esteem, confidence and feel motivated to take care of his or her business without putting things off. We must cultivate self-worth by making constructive changes, which is what personal transformation means. In order to make these transformations however, one must consider continuous learning and practicing of natural techniques, such as yoga or meditation. Yoga and meditation will allow you to probe into the subliminal and unconscious mind to find many answers to your problems. You will need to learn some encode and decode translations in order to understand the hidden messages and its meaning. By understanding the hidden messages in the subliminal and unconscious mind, one can put the pieces of his or her life together by fitting the pieces into place effectively. In this area of the mind, one will prance back toward his childhood to discover information that links to his experiences, knowledge, and so on. According to recent scientific findings, exploring this area of the brain can help us all solve many of our problems. In fact, as a participant of this study, which was my own doings, I find that it is very much true. It is true that you can explore the subliminal mind to find many answers to your problems. Meditation is another healthy practice that could open you up to subliminal learning. When you take care of the body and mind, thus it will build self-esteem and confidence. Meditation allows you to improve your brain’s performance, which ultimately helps you to build personal skills and qualities, such as self-esteem and confidence. The reason that meditation works in such a way is that it helps you to relax the body and mind, which is essentially needed to stay healthy. For this reason, one could benefit by getting started today. Start a meditation routine early in the morning, or practice yoga each day. Take some time to discover some more about subliminal learning by visiting the Super Information Highway, online. You will find tons of recent articles geared to help you make those personal changes while building self-esteem and confidence. Visit the Internet today to find hope and help with improving your life.

Positive Behavior Gains Rewards Bad Does Not

When raising children the parents should tell the children often that positive behavior gains rewards bad does not. Then your child will know that good means rewards for things nice, proper and polite. Bad behavior like tantrums fits, back talking, and rule breaking does not gain good rewards.

Positive child behavior in children is a child who is pleasant to be around, a child that is well, behaved at all times. This child minds what his mother of father says. This child does not need to be, told more that one time to do something. This type of child tries his or her best to please their parents and gain the rewards and benefits that come by being a good child.

This type of child usually comes from good parenting skills and is partly because the parents are constantly involved with the child. The parents do things with the child, help the child with whatever the child needs. There are lots of praises and hugs and kisses given to the child so the child learns positive behavior gains rewards bad, does not.

A child who does not know that positive behavior gains rewards bad does not is a child who is not told what this means. Usually the child who does not gain the rewards is a child who throws fits or tantrums, screams at his or her parents or other adults, or is violent and hits others or throws things. This child usually does not have parents who spend a-lot of time helping the child. This type of child often has to do and learn things on his or her own.

The reason the child is, left to do things on their own is because the parents are working or one parent is absent. This is difficult for a child to deal with this is why the ideal family has two parents. However, today sometimes, this is just not possible and the parent or parents do the best they can to provide for the child. This can cause behavior problems in the child and the child does not understand positive behavior gains rewards bad does not.

If the child does not fully understand what the phrase positive behavior gains rewards bad does not this should be explain to the child as soon as possible while the child is young. If the child is, let to grow up on his or her own with out this knowledge then they will be sever consequences involved. This child could develop a defiant disorder that will grow out of control quickly. A defiant disorder, or sever behavior problems can take months or even years to correct. This can and will tear a home apart if something is not, done to correct the situation.

For help with parenting skills please click on the link provided here to find the help and the answers you need. Your child needs your guidance and your love. Your child is the most important things in your life and is worth the time and effort you spend raising him or her.

The Step-By-Step Process of Mind-Body-Spirit Technique to Heal Struttering

Many clinicians now treat people who stutter using the mind-body-spirit medical philosophy, a model that was being practiced at least three thousand years ago.

Not only the principles and practices of this model are used to treat people who stutter. Such technique also showed effective results with terminally ill cancer patients and catastrophically ill children. Doctors employ visualization, guided imagery, and psychotherapy.

The mind-body-spirit medical philosophy is also known as “alternative medicine” or “holistic medicine” because clinicians look into the totality of the person including his mind and body to understand the dynamics that may induce or cause the illness and not just the symptoms.

The underpinning principle for such technique is that human organisms naturally yearn for balance and wellness in mind, body, and spirit. Such balance and wellness enables the body to function normally without much effort.

Therefore, recently, speech pathologist Carl H. Scott proposed a PWS in treating people who stutter. His model is based mainly from the mind-body-spirit medical philosophy. The technique does not only treat stuttering symptoms but also work the person toward balanced mind, body, and spirit.

Patients should take note of the adverse attitudes that would lead to unsuccessful treatment. The program is designed to encourage patients to develop their own inner guidance and therefore trust the technique. The technique makes patients self-reliant with a continuing source of information and inspiration to realize their goals.

The fundamental principle of this process is the commitment and intimate communication of patients with their higher selves. One clinician defines it as “invisible life force.”

A variety of therapeutic techniques is provided through the healing process. Examples of these are regression, gestalt therapy, psychosynthesis, applied kinesiology, EMDR, focusing, visualization, guided imagery, hypnosis, and neurolinguistic programming (NLP).

The first stage is to guide the patients to identify attitudes, feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and behaviour that might lead to unsuccessful healing. On this stage, clinicians are often listeners and absorbers of their patients’ seethes before the latter will be willing to throw their old belief system and accept a new perspective.

The second stage of the therapeutic sessions is to begin a healing process. Sometimes, this stage involves an inner child work. Other sessions might include dialoguing or forgiveness. The sessions are designed to dispel negative feelings and thoughts that has been stored over the years. This is because negative energies pose threat to therapeutic progress.

The next stage is designed to create a healthy belief system through indoctrination of new and positive thoughts and feelings. The sessions aim to develop a self-acceptance and love in the patients. The fundamental emphasis on this technique is to embed in patients’ belief system that everyone has freedom to think, feel, and behave.

This stage is focused on embedding new beliefs, thoughts, feelings, attitude, and behaviour on an internal level. Such goal is often attained through the use of guided imagery, visualization, and actively living the life outside the therapy environment.

This systematic process of mind-body-spirit model makes a person achieve fluency and eliminating his stuttering.

Without having goals you can never succeed

When it comes to setting goals, you will notice that it will help you choose a path for your life and to help keep your life pushing forward. You will know what you want to achieve and where you place your concentration. You will be able to spot all the things that will sidetrack you or distract you from the main goal. When you have a goal and plan, you will find that you will know when you are on tract with the goal and when you are not. When you set your goals properly, you will find it to be motivating and help you stick with the main focus. Every time you reach a goal, you will find yourself wanting to keep moving forward. You want to be able to reach for something and be truly focused on it or you’ll never reach anything. Goals help you stay on the right path and they help you stay out of trouble.

You will find that your mind is a wonderful tool and your life will be designed to reach for your dreams and live your life the way that you have designed your life. You are able to focus on what you want for your life and then when you set a clear and comprehensive goal you know that you can have such an achievement. Your achievements are marked because you worked so hard for them. When you place a goal on paper, you are able to mark a path for where you want your life to go. Then you are able to physically see that you can do whatever you need to or achieve your goal.

Who uses goals?  Well, everyone uses goals to help them make it to their dreams. Businessmen and women, athletes, students and more use goals to help them make it to their dreams. Without goals, you must not have dreams because you cannot reach your dreams unless you set your goals down and a game plan. When you set goals, you are able to motivate yourself and be able to visualize who you are. You may find that you may have to do a lot of research for you to be able to set your goals properly. You are also going to have to organize your time and find some resources to help you make the most out of your life.

For you to properly set a goal, you must be specific. You need to think about all the details of your goal and what you have to do to meet your goal. You want to make sure that you have everything covered in the plan. When you aim for a goal, you will find things that will distract you. Have a plan when it comes to the distractions. Do you have a friend to help keep you on track? Do you have anyone who cares enough to help you find the path that you stray away from?  Hopefully you can find a backup plan to your problems.

Why are goals so important? Goals give a person direction, and if you don’t have direction then you have no other option by to wonder. Wondering is okay when you are very young, but when it comes to being a responsible adult you are pressured by society to have goals and plan. You are expected to know what you want out of life and how to get to your life goal at a very young age. When you are twenty or three you will find yourself wondering what you want for your life. If you set a goal early, you can at least have some direction in life, but as you grow you can always change your goals to something that you want.

Work Smart with S.M.A.R.T. Goals

So, you know what success means to you and have even identified your SMART goals. Now what? What comes next? Having formulated Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound goals, now make an Action Plan that’ll serve as your roadmap to success…

Keep in mind that most successful people have not got where they are due to luck. They have planned their success and taken action towards achieving their goals. So, make an Action Plan that’s realistic and time specific. Follow this plan, but make room for change and unexpected developments. As a matter of fact, life is unpredictable, so learning to adapt to its changing nature will make you a happier and less stressed out person. It’ll go a long way in creating your success.

In case your Action Plan is long term, you might like to break it into shorter, manageable Action Plans. While working towards your goal, learn from experts in the field or people who have achieved similar goals you’ve set for yourself. Why reinvent the wheel when it has already been invented?!

Another critical step towards success is to learn to work optimally. That is, to figure out how you can work less while achieving the same output. You see, most people try to achieve more by working harder, but the idea is to work less and continue producing the same results, without a drop in quality or quantity, whichever is applicable. But in a bid to achieve more, most people work longer hours, increasing their stress levels. Whereas, they should be looking at the task at hand and figuring out ways to lessen their workload on a daily basis. The idea is to concentrate on delivering your best while working smart. For more details on how to implement this plan, check out the Success Strategies and Secrets that made Patric Chan successful and wealthy at www.successtrace.com.

When you decide on an Action Plan, always have a Plan B in place, just in case… And decide on a deadline that’s sacrosanct, a date that you work towards and always keep in mind as you inch closer towards your goal. If you work in a people-centric profession, people skills become an integral factor to your success. You need to know how to lead them in a way that inculcates great team spirit in them.  So, your goals become their goals, your deadlines become theirs…

Tips And Techniques To Improve Your Memory

If our brains are just computers, we can just add a memory chip so that we can upgrade our memory and expand the hard drive in order for us to store more memory. However, our brain is more complicated than even the most updated computers of the day, so improving our memory would require a lot of effort.

Like muscular power, our ability to recall increases when we exercise and enhance it with a good dietary plan and other natural healthy practices. There are some techniques you can do to enhance your memory and the ability of the brain to retrieve information. However, it is also important to understand how our memory works.

Memory is a special function of our brain in order to recall information that we have learned or observed. This simple meaning is ironic since it covers sophisticated process that incorporates different parts of the brain and serves in rigorous ways.

Our memory can be long term or short term. In a short-term memory, your mind stores data for a short period of time about a few minutes. This kind of memory is delicate and it is just natural. Your brain will soon discard it. It is estimated that the brain can only hold at least seven short-term memories, that’s why you can usually recall your call number but you need your credit card when you are purchasing something online.

Long term memory, on the other hand, involves data that you should make an effort in order to retain it in your mind. You need to hold information for a long-term because they are important such as personal information, family details, and even data you need while working.  Some data that you store in a long-term memory needs an effort for you to retain.

The brain is very important in facilitating memory recall. Certain parts of the brain are responsible in retention of memory. Among these parts are:

1. Hippocampus – a structure situated deep inside the brain that plays the most important role in processing information as memory.

2. Amygdala – this is a part of the brain that is almond-shaped near the hippocampus that processes emotion and aids in the permanent imprinting of memories that includes emotion. They say that life without the amygdala would be sensless.

3. Cerebral cortex – this is the outer layer of the brain that stores most long-term memory in several zones, based on what kind of recalling the data involved such as language, sensory input, problem-solving skills etc.
Our memory can also involve communication among the brain’s complicated network of sensory neurons and brains activated by neurotransmitters.

There are numerous ways of improving you memory such as:

1. Practice – with regular mind practice, your memory can be improved. Such exercises include reading, solving puzzles, games and doing logic.

2. Mnemonics – by employing special techniques such as mnemonics, you can easily learn information without making an extra effort to learn the entire material; most of the mnemonics are very funny such as acronyms and rhymes. For example, in memorizing the colors of the rainbow in proper order, most people can use the mnemonic ROY G. BIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet)

3. Roman Room System – this technique is usually employed in learning a new foreign language. You can easily learn words while visiting a town with common things that you can see. You can learn new nouns if you can visit the town square and try to be familiarized with the counterpart of common names.

Exercising and stimulating your brain is the best way to keep it healthy and keep your memory sharp. By remembering these tips and applying it, you can be sure that you will be able to improve your memory.

Stress Management For Self-Improvement

Stress has always been a part of our daily lives. We often find ways to deal it with but can become unbearable when you’re tightly under its grip. The important part here is to take control of stress before it ends up controlling you — which is to say that you will be making a lot of mistakes that will take quite a lot of time and effort to fix. This is where stress management comes in.

Why Get Rid Of Stress

We can never deny the fact that stress can be a big hindrance in everything you plan to do with your life. It can get in the way of business, career, or even with your family and friends. If you give in to the irritation and anger that is often the result of stress, you are bound to make wrong decisions and plenty of mistakes that will bring you down.

You can lose your job, do badly in a business deal, or even make enemies left and right when you let your stress control you. Learn to control stress and get rid of it every time it crops up for self-improvement.

Find The Source Of Your Stress

Knowing the source of your stress gives you plenty of options to counter it. If your stress stems from overwork, then take some time off from your busy schedule to relax. The home can also become a stressful environment, especially when it’s disorganized. If you think that the design of the interior is giving you problems, then take some time to rearrange the furniture around or add some home décor to make it comfortable to look at.  Once you are able to determine the problem then you can take the necessary steps to correct it.

Learn To Relax Once In A While

Everyone would agree that work, or the demands of work, is mostly the cause of stress. If you think that you have that wild look in your eyes every time your boss asks you to do something, then you better ask for a vacation leave to relax yourself outside your work area before it leads you into trouble.

Take some time off from your busy schedule and visit the local spa. Pamper yourself by indulging in a full-body massage or get an aromatherapy session going on to help you relax. You can always take a vacation if you really want to get the thoughts of work out of your system, but a massage will do just fine if you can’t afford to be absent from it.

Find The Child Within You

Kids are known to be stress-free. Even if you scold them or force them to eat vegetables, you will never see them suffer from stress. The reason here is with their mindset to enjoy life as they see fit. You can take your cue from them and enjoy life more.

Find your inner child and just play. You can grab your Playstation out of the cabinet and bring out the games you usually play during your free time. Another idea is to listen to your favorite music or read some comics on the Internet. You can even play online games if you like just to get your mind off your work.

Keep in mind that the gist of stress management is not the methods you take for getting stress out of your system. The idea here is to learn how to divert your mind from the problems that causes stress to give yourself time to relax and face the problem with a clear mind.

Different Kinds of Motivation

Motivation makes the world go around, not love. This is the thing that drives people to do the things that they do, say the things that they say and create the things that they make. It is even partly responsible for the choices that we make in our jobs, in our courses in college and even in our partners in life.

Motivation is what drives people and it serves as the lifeblood of people, the one that propels them to go on and on, never mind the hunger or the tiredness. Not all people however are motivated the same way. In fact, there are people who ant to have different things for different reasons. It is unfortunate that people do not realize this. Otherwise, it will be very easy to deal with people and well to manipulate them in a way.

Here are some of the different motivations that people subscribe to. Read on and you might find one that will help you deal with people close to you. It might even help you deal with your own self.

1. Achievement
This people are those that wants to work, work and work. They don’t need to be given money, rewards or anything of the sort to work. They work for the sake of the work and not for anything else. When you are looking for people, this is the kind of employees that you might want to consider. These people are dedicated and often, they are the ones who are persistent and have a high energy levels. They also want to be given responsibilities and when they have achieved something, they will get right on to doing the next one without even resting.

2. Affiliation
You might wonder what others are thinking why they just give up their careers for love. You see women who dedicate their lives to serve their husbands and you cringe at the choices that they have made. But this is because your motivation is not the same as theirs. What motivates these people is their need for affiliation. These people need love in their lives. This is the only thing that they aim for. It’s not important for them to have a career or to achieve something in life, they just want to have people love them and have a support system.

3. Security
These people care for the future. They are already thinking of their future in old age even if they are still in their 20s. Often these are the people who are into material possessions because they feel that having money will secure their future for them. Besides money, these people also want to have properties and all kinds of assets. Having a steady job is also important to them. Change is not something that these people can abide.

4. Nurturance
These people are the natural mothers of the world. They have the constant need to mother people or to care for someone. Often, people go to them when they want to comforted or just to have someone to listen to them. They are nurturing and motherly in their attitudes towards people and would be great teachers, counselors and mothers.

There are different types of motivation and each person has a different set. This is what sets people apart and what makes the world so much more interesting and alive.
